The Salvation Army in Galveston operates an emergency overnight homeless shelter for men, women and families. Services include meals, showers, laundry and case management. The shelter is HOUSING FOCUSED. Everyone is expected to meet with a case worker and work on a plan toward self-sufficiency. Stay will not exceed 30 days if there is no plan in place with a case worker and no progress toward achieving these goals. In addition to the shelter, a free meal is provided for anyone in the community who comes by at 5:00p.m.every day in the front parking lot. A food pantry provides food boxes of grocery staples for low-income county residents Monday - Friday between 9:30 and 3:00 (closed for lunch).
