In Sacramento, the YWCA carries on a century-old tradition of providing women a safe, comfortable place to live. As many as 32 low-income, single women call the YWCA on 17th Street, not far from the Capitol, home. Each has her room furnished with a twin bed and dresser. All rooms have a closet, sink and ceiling fan with their own heat/air conditioner. The Sacramento YWCA building has office space and meeting space available for rent. The midtown location, just a few blocks from the Capitol, makes it convenient for business, social and civic gatherings. During the 2009 – 10 fiscal year, the entire building went through renovations. Therefore, everything in the building is brand new and state-of-the-art equipment exists in every room.
