About this Resource
American Legion Post 48 was chartered only a little more than a year after the end of World War I and only eight months after the national American Legion was founded. The post has traditionally been the largest or one of the larger posts in the state. It also has an American Legion Auxiliary chapter and a Sons of the American Legion squadron.
Post 48 gathers every Tuesday at 5 p.m. for a social hour, 6 p.m. for a home-cooked meal and 7 p.m. for a business meeting at its meeting hall at 1 American Legion Ave., Newton NC 28658.
